1. How do interpersonal and employability skills affect your everyday life and your future?
Interpersonal and employability skills affect my everyday life and future by having social skills to public speak, being respectful, and have good work ethics.

2. What is graphic design and why is it important to communicate visually?

Graphic design is a form of art that would usually try to attempt one's attention or a drawing that represents something or someone. It is important because it is something we are able to see everyday.

3. Why is it important to identify safety issues and to safely operate equipment utilized in the classroom?
It is important to identify safety issues to safely operate equipment utilized in classrooms so nobody gets hurt and that they are well aware of their surroundings.

4. What are the elements of design and how are they incorporated into a design?
The elements of design include color, value, line, shape, texture, form, and space. Lines form shapes of images. Shapes are basic forms that define specific areas in space. There are two types of space. Positive space includes all elements of design. Negative space is the place for eyes to rest from positive space. Texture is the actual surface of design or illusion of the texture. Value is the degree of light and dark with contrast. Colors convey moods.

5. What is a vector-based design and how is it created?

A vector based design is based on geometry. It uses a mathematical formula. Vector based graphics do not lose resolution.

6. How is color used effectively in graphic design?
In art, color is used to show certain types of feelings with cool colors show calmness while warm colors bring in a sense of warmth. Certain colors will catch the viewer's eye, making them study the art work trying to figure out what's going on. Examples of this may be certain paintings to advertisements on bus stops, billboards, and magazines.

7. What is a raster-based image and how is it created?

A raster-based image is made up of pixels that are based on a resolution. You can stretch or shrink pixels, but it will lose quality, resulting in blurry and pixelated images. A raster-based image is created by using Photoshop. 

8. How does the manipulation of size and resolution affect digital images?
The manipulation of size and resolution affect digital images will distort the quality of the photo.

9. What is the function of the type within a design?

The function of the type within a design helps it go with the theme of the artwork.

10. How do designers use a page layout program?
Designers use a page layout program so they can design the elements on their website so viewers can navigate around the website easily.

11. What steps does a designer take to design a page layout from concept to final product?

Steps that a designer take to design a page layout from concept to final product are thinking up a design to create a concept, then taking it to a program to make the page layout. After that, you can add in final touches to create the final product.

12. What are the key developments in the history of visual communication?  How did these developments shape our industry?
A key development in the history of visual communication is the computer. With the invention of the computer, we are now able to make artwork with computer graphics. This development shaped our industry by giving more room for opportunity with people who are good at designing artwork, rather than drawing it out.

13. What careers are available within the field of graphic designer? What profession are associated with the industry?
Illustrators and graphic designers are careers that are available within the field of graphic designers. A profession that is associated within the industry are ones in marketing and advertising.

14. Would I want to become an Illustrator or Graphic Designer? Explain.

I would be interested to be a graphic designer because I don't mind working with photoshop and illustrator. I would say that I am pretty decent in working with photoshop but there is always room for improvement.
